Hazardous & Special Waste Acceptance

Strict controls are exercised on the dumping of hazardous and special wastes.

Acceptance of hazardous waste and waste requiring special handling (includes asbestos, methamphetamine contaminated wastes, HAIL material, liquid wastes, medical waste, odourous waste, deep burial waste, etc.) requires a disposal manifest. Testing of waste and provision of test results may be required prior to approval of disposal manifests.

There is a processing time of 5 working days for all manifest applications requiring no other details/information.

Contaminated soil can be disposed at our class 3 landfill subject to review of test results.

Please get in touch with us if you have liquid waste to dispose. Some liquid wastes may be disposed of at Beach Road Pump Station in Richmond, this requires an account with the Nelson Regional Sewerage Business Unit: www.nrsbu.govt.nz/contact-us

Acceptance of hazardous waste - York Valley

York Valley is the primary landfill receiving special waste.

Acceptance of asbestos - York Valley

Only landfill customers can access the landfill. Private removers can apply for a manifest, but will need to advise which landfill customer will be transporting the lift-off packages to landfill.

Removal and disposal need to comply with regulations and our site Asbestos Management Plan.

Acceptance of Class 3 contaminated soil - Eves Valley

Waste will require lab testing to confirm contamination levels do not exceed the acceptance criteria. Lab test results will need to be supplied and reviewed prior to approval of disposal manifest.
